Monthly Check-In
Mar. 31st, 2023 11:19 amEek!! Sorry for not posting like at all, I keep meaning to, but it always slips out of my mind. I've actually done a bit since my last entry! Real quick, here are the bullet points:
After that we went to a comic shop where my brother bought me Batman: Year One (can you notice a theme here? lol) and we went back to his apartment in the bay area. It was small, but sooo cozy. While he made dinner, his fiancee and I chilled in the living room. She played some app on her phone & I read my comic while their cat slept on my lap. It was really simple, but I was super happy... plus the dinner was good! It all felt so, idk, normal? Which I'm not used to.
Next on the list... OKAY. Well I won't go into TOO much detail I guess but I saw this YouTube thumbnail which got me interested 'cause I love that kinda shit:

The guy in the video was talking about Planescape: Torment, and said it was among the ranks of New Vegas and Deus Ex. Naturally I was like, no fucking way he's serious! Nothing can compare to New Vegas, but I'll give a try anyways (I really only watched the first couple minutes of the vid since I didn't wanna spoil the game, lol)So... I downloaded and played it over the course of like 2 days, it maybe took ~20ish hours for me. And... it was actually pretty good.
When I finished it, I thought it was kinda just Eh at first, but it's one of those things that really needs to sink in for you to appreciate it. Would I call it the most philosophical game ever? Well, no, and I still like New Vegas more, but there were a lot of thought provoking moments and I liked all the party members a lot. It's a case of quality over quantity (Looking at you, Baldur's Gate), which I prefer in these kinds of games. Plus the story of the main character is just so compelling, there never was a dull moment, and while doing side quests it didn't feel I was getting sidetracked away from the main objective or going too out of my way for anything. I won't spoil the story in case you wanted to play it, but that final dungeon was as frustrating as it was satisfying (which is to say, a lot).
Would I recommend playing it? Well... maybe. It depends, if you like 90's DnD games and don't mind a lot of reading, and I mean A LOT, then yes absolutely. Oh, speaking of, did you know a Planescape adventure book for 5e is gonna be coming out this fall? It just got announced recently, and when a friend told me that I was like WHAT!!!!! Such weird timing, right? Let's hope next month brings even more super pleasant surprises...
